Summer Dance Intensive at Quinte Ballet School of Canada

AUDITIONS IN JANUARY - VISIT OUR WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION.  Quinte Ballet School of Canada's Summer Dance Intensive is a three-week program that provides students with a challenging and rewarding dance experience within a safe and creative community.  Students dance from Monday to Friday for approximately 22 hours per week. With an emphasis on versatility and technique, classes include:  Ballet Technique, Pointe Work, Boy’s Work, Repertoire, Modern, Spanish/Flamenco, Jazz, Hip Hop, Conditioning

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM (PTP)     Audition Required  Attending the Summer Dance Intensive offers both the students and the faculty an opportunity to work together in a studio environment to see if QBSC is the right fit for you as a potential full-time professional student.  Visit AUDITION for more information.

OPEN TRAINING PROGRAM (OTP)     Audition Not Required  Designed to provide a challenging Summer Dance experience, this is an excellent option for those students who are not necessarily looking for a full time professional program.  However, an OTP student may be offered acceptance to the full time professional training program based on talent and commitment displayed.

PTP and OTP students take classes together, including special workshops, and are placed in levels according to their age and ability.


Summer Dance Intensive at The National Ballet of Canada

The National Ballet of Canada gives young dance students the opportunity to learn from professional dancers right in the National Ballet’s studios. Dance students will participate in ballet, pointe, jazz, repertoire and hip hop classes taught by professional artists from the National Ballet and others.

Senior Level
Dates and Times: Monday, July 9 - Friday, July 20, 2018 9:30 am - 4:00 pm
Age and Level Requirments: Ages 12 - 18. A minimum of five years ballet experience is required.

Junior Level
Dates and Times: Monday, July 9 - Friday, July 20, 2018 9:30 am - 3:00 pm
Age and Level Requirements: Ages 8 - 11. A minimum of three years ballet experience is required.

Quinte Ballet School Summer Dance Intensive

Quinte Ballet School of Canada’s Summer Dance Intensive (SDI) 2018 takes place from July 2 to July 21. For students looking to attend the full time Professional Training Program that starts in September, SDI is the second part of the audition process.  For more information on the spring audition tour regstration and summer dance registration, please contact Desiree Botting, Assistant to the Artistic Director, at 1-866-962-9274 ext. 21 or visit the QBSC website.

The Summer Dance Intensive is composed of two streams: the Professional Training Program (PTP) and the Open Training Program (OTP).

The Open Training Program is for students looking to have a great summer of dance, and train with QBSC’s artistic staff and special guest faculty. Students in both programs are placed in levels according to age and ability.

PTP and OTP students take classes together, and all students are eligible for placement in residence should it be required.

QBSC believes that versatility is very important for dancers today, thus classes are offered in a wide variety of dance techniques and style, these include:

QBSC is pleased to welcome back renowned international Master teacher Henning Albrechtsen for a portion of the 2018 Summer Dance Intensive.  He will be instructing select levels of Ballet classes and Boys Work.  Since 2015 Henning has been freelance teaching internationally, predominantly in the Bournonville technique, and has taught Master classes at various schools around the world including the Royal Ballet School in London, National Ballet School of Cuba, National Ballet School of Canada and the Paris Opera Ballet School.

The Retreat - by Release Dance Project

Release Dance Project is excited to offer Ontario’s first ever overnight (7 day) Youth Dance Intensive. The Retreat provides an opportunity for dancers to engage in a full dance intensive, in an intimate setting. This gives them the chance to be challenged as dancers, and find new and innovative ways to move. We strive to push dancers to their fullest potential by taking them out of their comfort zone, alongside, providing them with a solid base to do so. Being a part of The Retreat allows dancers to fully emerge themselves in the intensive, and narrow in to discover who they are, what they want to accomplish, and how they can achieve it! The Retreat combines company-like dance training with typical summer camp activities. These evolving dancers get to enjoy their summer in the beautiful outdoors while continuing their training and expanding their knowledge of dance!  For more information visit:
