"I think that something wonderful will spread in
the world where I live now...Life is dance. Let's fly!"
Kaeja Elevations Workshop Participant

"I was impressed by how you choreographed and sequenced the movements which are closer to our daily life, into dance. There was very natural flow from scene to scene so I was in the moment...it was not ‘daily life’ and ‘dance’ separated. It was all connected and organic between movement and feeling."

Our Japan 2019 tour has come to an end!

Xtraordinary TO Dances (XTOD): Moments in Reel Time and XTOD: Solo Dance Xchange made a huge splash in Japan, where we were honoured to work with amazing Japanese Dance Artists in the first international iteration of XTOD!

We also shared lifeDUET performances, taught Kaeja Elevations, and screened dance films including Departure (2003), Zummel (1999), and Witnessed (1997).

We look forward to coming home to Toronto to dive into a summer of outdoor dance with Porch View Dances (PVD) Seaton Village, PVD Mimico, and our new Heart of the Park project which will see us performing in 15 Toronto Parks!

Stay tuned for more info on these events...

KAREN & JABERI DANCE THEATRE

No Woman's Land. Directed & choreographed by Roshanak Jaberi.

As Karen wraps up her three year choreographic mentor/artistic advisor role for Roshanak Jaberi during the creative process and performances of No Woman’s Land, she is thrilled to remain part of the future fabric of Jaberi Dance Theatre as Artistic Advisor.

"No Woman’s Land embraced a driving commitment to vital political content and stunning performances, giving voice to refugee women through a multi-theatrical dance experience. Here and now, we have art meeting social intention. A rich process of creative collaboration with so many stellar artists and academics, Roshanak’s full evening work brought sold out audiences to their feet at Peterborough’s Public Energy and Toronto’s DanceWorks seasons. I foresee a long life for this brave and beautiful new work that I am super proud to have played a part in.”

Possibilities of Dialogue (Performance)
TOES FOR DANCE
April 5-7, 2019 at Toronto Centre for the Arts

Co-created and performed by TOES FOR DANCE Co-Director David Norsworthy and NYC-based dance artist Marielis Garcia, Possibilities of Dialogue is an exchange of energy and awareness. Inspired by the parallels between making a dance and having a conversation, the performance is an abstracted collaborative creative process; moments of listening, curiosity, disagreement and spontaneity unfold through movement and text. Audience members are welcome to observe and interact through the invitations that are offered. More info here.
