The Board of Directors at Dancemakers would like to share with you some recent and important news about the organisation’s leadership team.

Our Curator Amelia Ehrhardt has decided to leave Dancemakers to pursue her own creative practice. During her tenure, Amelia greatly helped support Dancemakers’ mission through its residency programs. Amelia also brought to life several exciting programs, such as the Dance Writers in Residence program, the Peer Learning Network, Le Switch in collaboration with CCOV Montreal, and Amelia’s signature presentation platform Flowchart.  We are grateful for her four years with us and wish her success as she embarks on her next journey.

We are also very happy to announce that our production Tanya Bregstein has decided to return to Dancemakers in a full-time capacity as Facilities Manager after a short two-month departure. Tanya is Dancemakers’ main point of contact for space bookings, technical support and facilities management.

Given Amelia’s departure, our General Manager Frances Shakov has offered to return to Dancemakers for the remainder of the season and help keep our operations running smoothly.

These recent changes are an opportunity for the Board to reflect, review and rethink its space and raison d’être in the dance landscape of Toronto and indeed, the country. During this transition and until a new leadership structure is in place, Dancemakers is committed to continuing to support our Resident Artists in their work as planned for the season.

Please join us in wishing Amelia success in her new endeavour, and offering a warm welcome back to Tanya and Frances.

Best Regards,

Louis-Michel Taillefer,
Board Chair, Dancemakers
