Located in the historic Tett Centre For Creativity and Learning in Kingston, Ontario, The Kingston School of Dance (KSD) has been promoting and teaching the art of dance since 1967. KSD delivers dance education of the highest standard to promote technical, musical and artistic development. The KSD welcomes and supports individuals of all abilities, ages and backgrounds by encouraging artistic expression and personal growth through dance. KSD strives for artistic excellence in teaching, stays vitally aware of ongoing developments in the art form of dance, provides stable administration and financial management, and maintains a strong and responsible Board of Directors. Through its dedication to excellence and community engagement, KSD has remained at the forefront of training and the promotion of  dance in Kingston for over fifty years. Position Overview: Kingston School of Dance is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Studio Manager of our thriving dance school. Working closely with the Artistic Director (AD), the Studio Manager reports to the Kingston School of Dance Board of Directors and is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its vision and mission. The Studio Manager ensures the smooth running of the KSD’s overall operations and financial administration and provides organizational leadership and evaluation of programming. Responsibilities include oversight of financials and daily operations, as well as supervision of administration, marketing, volunteer management, fundraising and production. Planning and Administration 1. ln support of the Artistic Director and with approval of the Board of Directors, develops both longand short-term strategic planning to advance the School’s mission 2. Ensures that all federal, provincial and municipal operating grants interim reports and final reports are submitted on time 3. Responsible for developing a strong and thriving volunteer program for KSD and will oversee the hiring and supervision of staff and students2 4. Supervises the day-to-day activities and provides managerial support to the office and staff 5. Develops and implements marketing and communications (digital, web, print and social) for KSD with all target groups including families and the broader community 6. Manages current policies and procedures and contributes to the development of new policies and procedures. e.g.: COVID Public Health policies and AODA compliance 7. In collaboration with the AD works to ensure diversity, equity and inclusivity practices are implemented and upheld 8. Develops and supervises annual fundraising and sponsorship campaigns 9. Develops and stewards community outreach activities and external partnerships Finance and Budget 1. Develops and monitors the company’s budget to ensure financial resources are properly managed. 2. ln collaboration with the Artistic Director prepares annual budgets as part of the business plan for the Board 3. Monitors internal accounting controls to ensure appropriate business processes are in place, which includes the timely payment of accounts 4. Reports to all regulatory and funding bodies as required, including Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and all civic, provincial and federal funding bodies 5. Prepares government grant applications including budget (CADAC), in collaboration with the Artistic Director 6. Prepares monthly financial updates and explanations to the Board Finance Committee 7. Oversees preparation of the annual audit Facilities and Production 1.Negotiates Theatre management contracts with the City of Kingston (Tett Centre), and any appropriate rental spaces. (i.e., Grand Theatre, Domino Theatre) 2.Prepares capital expenditure requests for the School and the approval of the Board of Directors 3.Manages studio maintenance and repairs 4.Works collaboratively with the AD, Board of Directors committees and volunteers, manage the annual performance and for the school and any other performance and production opportunities throughout the year 5.In collaboration with the AD, develops opportunities for community-based performances throughout the year

3 QUALIFICATIONS and SPECIAL SKILLS: The ideal candidate for the Studio Manager will meet most or all of these qualifications. Consideration given to an equivalent of education and experience: • Demonstrated management experience in administration and operations • Expertise in proposal development, report writing, budget preparation and monitoring spending • Experience and supervisory capacity with all aspects of (virtual and analogue) live art event production • Experience in marketing and communications (including traditional and new media buying and analytics (including social media, web marketing, digital advertising etc.) • Experience managing teams and/or individuals and volunteers • Previous fundraising experience (highly preferred) • Demonstrated fiscal and budget planning experience and knowledge of financial accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Google Sheets, etc.) • Demonstrated knowledge of project management software (e.g., Asana, Microsoft TEAMS) • Demonstrated understanding of equity, diversity and inclusivity practices • Excellent working knowledge of office administration tools, and email tools (e.g., Survey Monkey), data base tools, design software (e.g., Canva), Excel spreadsheets, Zoom, Google Drive, website CMS etc. • Experience with implementing and designing and targeting social media campaigns and monitoring and analyzing analytics, and marketing and communications activities • Familiarity with Dance Studio software an asset (e.g., Dance Studio Pro) • Familiarity with not-for-profit organizations and structures an asset • Familiarity with volunteer recruitment and fundraising • Ability to work independently and proactively (nights and weekends required) Some overtime is also required Qualified candidates will possess the following core competencies: • A passion for dance and broad understanding of the health benefits of dance for all abilities, ages and backgrounds (ability to substitute teach would be an asset but not required) • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is essential • A commitment to clear and concise communication and collaborative teamwork, combined with strong interpersonal skills is essential • The ability to collaborate and work well in a horizontalized work culture and Board-engaged organizational environment • Detail oriented with ability to juggle priorities, manage critical paths, create timelines, maintain schedules, track/document materials. • Excellent writing, communication, and advocacy skills • Are a resourceful and creative thinker with outstanding problem-solving skills • Results oriented 4 Additional Info: The Studio Manager is a six-month contract position commencing June 2021 with the possibility of renewal or appointment into permanent position.
