A Handbook for Ecstatic Survival is a scrapbook, in Earle’s own words and images, on subjects that have challenged and rewarded him: dance, dancers, teaching, Martha Graham, music, art, Life, Love, ecstasy itself…

WHEN I FIRST ENVISIONED this book, I imagined having some broad, general advice to share. Entering into it, I find that no generalizations are possible. Yet having collected memories, feelings and images for many years, I must now give form to the epic piles of pictures and handwritten notes that surround me.

But you cannot write a “how to” book about an art form. So I intend this book for those who don’t dance, and for those whose fate it is to be an artist in dance – for the curious, the hungry, for those wishing for another window on this Life’s possibilities.             – David Earle

This full-colour, 100-page volume was preceded, in 2016, by the DtDE/HoS publication of Study for “A Handbook of Ecstatic Survival.” As with that book, a highly successful fundraising effort, we are offering a small number of hardcover editions, individually personalized by David with additional images and handwritten notes. These limited editions are sold in support of the further online and printed development of the project, and come with a charitable donation receipt.
