Naishi Wang was born in Changchun, China and received professional dance training from Jilin College of Art and advanced study in Chinese Classical Dance from Beijing Dance Academy. In 2004, Naishi moved to Canada to attend The School of Toronto Dance Theater. Subsequently, Naishi became a company member of Toronto Dance Theater for nine years until the summer of 2015. At this stage of his dance career, Wang inspired to work extensively as a freelance dance artist with diverse talented artists and choreographers. Naishi has collaborated with renowned choreographers Peter Chin, D.A Hoskins, Paul-André Fortier, Heidi Strauss, and Christoph Winkler for several eminent projects in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Beijing, Phnom Penh, and Berlin. Naishi has received Dora Moore Awards in Dance Division for Outstanding Performance Ensemble (2017) and was nominated for Outstanding Performance Male (2013).
Naishi is developing as an independent choreographer on his own. From 2009 to 2010 Wang commissioned by SXM studio in Beijing, China created concept based contemporary dance works. In 2017, joined Dancemakers Peer Learning Network Program and studio showing at Canada Dance Festival (Ottawa). In 2018, Studio showing at Kinetic Studio (Halifax), he premiered his first solo “Taking Breath” at Toronto, presented by Citadel & Company followed by a Germany premiere at Monsun Theater (Hamburg, Germany) and in 2019 at Montreal, art interculturels (Montreal).
