First elected in 2007, Sylvia has been working tirelessly to voice the issues that matter to Dufferin-Caledon residents. Sylvia has introduced many pieces of legislation that have been adopted into government legislation or have become law, including Social Assistance Statute Law Amendment Act, the Aggregate Recycling Promotion Act and the Respecting Private Property Act.

The DTRC is thrilled to announce that Sarah Lochhead will be joining the Dancer Transition Resource Centre as our Director of Administration. Sarah is bringing a wealth of experience to the organization; she was most recently the Director of The Dance Current and the Executive Director of Simcoe Contemporary Dancers—a not-for-profit dance company based in Barrie, ON.

GASTON, Dr. Anne-Marie (née Groves), who performed under the stage name of 'Anjali', died July 6, 1941 April 5, 2018. She was dancer, choreographer, writer, photographer, lecturer, teacher and traveller: Beloved wife and sister. Anne-Marie was born, raised, educated (at Lisgar Collegiate, where she was head girl) and died in Ottawa. She did her first degree at Queen's University and subsequently earned two post-graduate degrees (M.Litt., D.Phil) at Oxford University, UK.

The Canada Council for the Arts and the Department of Canadian Heritage today announced $550,000 to be directed towards a wide range of undertakings to prevent harassment in the arts. The Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC) will play a lead role, coordinating this far-reaching series of anti-harassment initiatives in the live performing arts, visual arts and crafts, and literary arts.

Halton District School Board's annual dance festival "FLORESCENCE" Celebrating International Dance Day takes place this week. We celebrate on THURSDAY, APRIL 26TH at the New Street Education Centre, 3250 New Street in Burlington L7N 1M8 from 9:15am to 2:00pm. After the Welcoming Ceremonies, students will participate in two technique workshops from a variety of disciplines (bollywood, contemporary, flamenco, hip hop, jazz, musical theatre, rhythm/tap, urban/house) facilitated by area dance artists. The morning finishes with a Show 'n' Share session.

Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced a major change to performance categories for the Dora Mavor Moore Awards that will be implemented for next year's 40th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards in June 2019.

All performance categories for the Dora Mavor Moore Awards beginning with the 2018-19 season will be gender neutral with all binary male and female designations eliminated and replaced with gender-inclusive "Outstanding Performance" categories as applicable.
