DTRC's Executive Director To Step Down

Oct. 30, 2018

Dancer Transition Resource Centre Chair Monique Rabideau and Executive Director Amanda Hancox announced today that Ms. Hancox will be stepping down as DTRC Executive Director at the end of the year.

Amanda HancoxAfter 16 wonderful years at DTRC, it’s time for me to move on,” said Ms. Hancox. “Since my appointment as DTRC Executive Director in 2005 I’ve been privileged to work with hundreds of inspiring Canadian dancers as they navigated transitions throughout their performance careers. I’ve had wonderful partners in this journey and thank our dedicated staff, and the many board members and volunteers who have all contributed their skills and knowledge to continue to evolve and improve the DTRC.” In her tenure as ED, Ms. Hancox oversaw the development and growth of the national organization which helps dancers make necessary transitions into, within and from professional performing careers. Through counselling, career development education and grants to retrain for a parallel or second career, the DTRC supports the complete career cycle of the professional dancer.

There is never a good time to lose a leader like Amanda. We thank her for her empathy, passion and concern for the well-being of dancers across the country, which has enhanced the DTRC’s long-standing reputation as a caring and collaborative organization,” said Ms. Rabideau. “Her leadership has placed DTRC in a very strong position. The next DTRC Executive Director will inherit a healthy organization and will have the opportunity to ensure it not only remains relevant in the rapidly changing Canadian dance environment but evolves to meet the growing needs of dancers.”

The Board of Directors has initiated a process to recruit the next Executive Director and invites interested candidates to check the website dtrc.ca  where information will be posted when it becomes available.
