As part of our three-year initiative to establish dance networks in Sudbury, Windsor and Sault Ste. Marie generously funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Dance Ontario welcomes Provincial Networks Coordinator Peter Kelly. A Guelph native, who is a multi-faceted dancer, instructor, choreographer, stage manager and artistic director, Peter completed his professional dance training from George Brown College’s, Dance Performance Studies Program and is now in his second season with Toronto Dance Theatre as a company dancer. He is also the founder and artistic director of New Blue Emerging Dance, a new organization for emerging artists, .

Under this regional incentive, Dance Ontario will act as a catalyst for collaborators drawn from local arts councils, public school boards, dance studios, and local professional artists who will promote and encourage increased sustainable dance activities. Modeled on dance networks established over the past three years in Dufferin, Halton and London, members of the latter will act as mentors for the new dance hub participants. Enriching lives through arts, culture and heritage, this initiative will build access to arts-based learning opportunities and compelling artistic, cultural and heritage experiences, and will impact on the lives of 11,000 people across Ontario.

The Association has launched the project in Windsor led by Regional Network Coordinator, Taisa Petruk.  Regional Coordinators will shortly be announced for Sault Ste Marie and Sudbury.
