Two individuals whose initiatives have benefited the dance community over the past few years will be acknowledged during DanceWeekend’17 with Community Service Awards.

Colin Anthony, who recently passed away, celebrated ten years presenting coexisDance which he founded. The event matched one to two dancers with musicians who then improvised for up to 10 minutes. A monthly event featuring eight performances each night, hundreds of dancers and musicians participated.

Kenny Pearl for his dedication to Great Moving Dancers (GMD) weekly classes for professional dancers run at his own expense.
Well respected throughout the dance community, he has been associated with Ryerson Dance Department, Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre and with assisting David Earle to re-stage classic modern works.

Previous recipients of this award were John Newton, Ted Fox, Alan Page, Patrick Kutney.
