Canada’s Ballet Jörgen will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a record setting week of programming across Canada from October 23 – 29.

Toronto – Halifax: Reaching 15 communities in four provinces Canada’s Ballet Jörgen will set a new record of dance programming with 65 performances and community events in a single week.

We believe every Canadian no matter where they live should have affordable access to high-quality dance. For 30 years we at Canada’s Ballet Jörgen have lived this vision. We are proud of our accomplishment of delivering dance programming to 252 communities across Canada “– Artistic Director Bengt Jörgen

Next week Canada’s Ballet Jörgen will celebrate its anniversary with a focus on four provinces – Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta and Nova Scotia – that have played a significant role in its development as one of the country’s largest and most effective dance organizations.

Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s first performance took place at the Main Dance place in Vancouver on October 16th, 1987 followed by performances at the Premiere Dance Theatre in Toronto on January 8th and 9th 1988. The company started touring Alberta in 1996 with performances in Red Deer and Grand Prairie. Canada’s Ballet Jörgen maintains an annual schedule of touring in Alberta and has extensive programming in British Columbia and Ontario.

Canada’s Ballet Jörgen has performed in Nova Scotia since 1994 and launched its first hub in Halifax in 2007. Today the company serves Nova Scotia, together with Ontario, as one of its two home provinces – offering multifaceted programming on a year-round basis.

Canada’s Ballet Jörgen is a two time winner of the BC Touring Council’s Artists of the Year Award and the 2011 winner of the National Arts Centre Award for Distinguished Contribution to touring.
