Butoh Practice: the Body and Techniques of the Present

This is a bit of a different butoh practice session oriented around the body and techniques of the present. The arts are techniques that by playing with time and space, allow us to explore the potentialities of each body in its ecology. The practice then is a consideration of the (butoh) body at the intersection of the arts.

As part of the practice we will try out what might be called body maps or floor drawing, asemic writing as ways to explore embodied movement and vocalization, and sounding movement.

Supplies will be provided.
$10-15 for attendance depending on means.
Do RSVP so that supplies are available.

Regular practices are free. If you'd like us to arrange a practice at another time, please email me. If you'd like to propose a theme and explore with the group, that is also welcome.

As the weather warms up we can to hold our practice outdoors. Weather permitting, the April practice could be run at High Park where we can dance and play with powder colors; musicians are welcome!

No experience necessary. Collectively made art will be shared.
