Engaging Gravity
Wednesday jam series taught by Pam Johnson
This series will explore the unique way that Contact Improvisation engages our ability to sense and organize with the invisible force of gravity to create movement. All Levels. May 1, 8, 15. 6-7pm, Dovercourt House
May 1: Sensation and Structure—This class will explore how we sense gravity and negotiate it through the structure of our body, the floor and with other bodies.
May 8: Just Over the Edge—This class will explore sensing the moment when we go from balanced to off-balance. Navigating the off-balance place and how we use this in contact Improv to share our mass with other dancers.
May 15: Organizing Momentum—engaging the dynamic of our centre in its most active way when we release into the force of gravity and organize the momentum we create.
These classes are organized by Kathleen Rea. Class $10 For more info: www.reasondetre.com/wedjam.html

Lina has been teaching ballet at intermediate and advanced levels for over 25 years. In Montréal, where she is based, she often teaches workshops for Regroupement québécois de la danse, local dance companies, and professional training schools such as École de danse de Québec and Laddmi.

THE CITY CLICKERS
ADULT TAP CLASSES
THE CiTY CLiCKERS, an adult amateur tap group, invites anyone interested in improving their tap dance skills to join us for our weekly classes on Monday evenings from 7:15 to 8:30 pm. We dance at the "advanced beginner" to "mid-intermediate" level, so some knowledge of the basic tap steps is required. We operate in 10-12 week sessions from September to mid June, breaking during the summer months. Cost for a full session is dependant on the number in the group, payable in full at the beginning of each session. Those interested in "checking out" the group before committing to a longer period may pay $20 per drop-in/single class. However, given the cumulative nature of learning dance routines, we do encourage longer-term participation or a full 10-12 week session.
Our group is led by a talented teacher/choreographer. Our music selection is eclectic; something for everyone. Our efforts culminate in a performance at the National Tap Dance Day celebrations held each spring at Nathan Phillips Square. We also enjoy performing occasionally at local retirement/nursing homes.
If this sounds like fun to you, we'd love to have you join us.
Our location is the BDX Dance studio at 819 Yonge St. (east side of Yonge St - southeast corner of Yonge/Davenport) which is just north of Bloor subway Stn. Across from Yorkville area - Scollard Ave.
Please contact for more details: Daria Danko at dariad@prosource.ca or Suzie C-Kit at sckbluesky8@yahoo.com or (416) 204-4650.
