MOTUS O Dance Theatre
Culture Days Dance Workshop

Richmond Hill

Have you always wanted to dance your heart out but were too self-conscious? You’re not alone!

As part of the Culture Days Celebrations, Cynthia Croker (co-founder and co-Artistic Director of MOTUS O dance theatre) will lead a free movement workshop on September 26, from 1pm to 4pm. Hosted by Ovation! Performing Arts Academy, this session encourages each participant to explore their own reasons to dance. Whether you’ve never taken a class or if you have years of dance training, there’ll be something for you!

Cynthia will use a number of established techniques that focus on each body’s own ‘way of moving.’ The session will be based on Laban movement – this is a gentle approach that examines our own pedestrian movements and finds interesting ways to fill space with our bodies. We will also use “visual explorer”; this is a technique that uses photo images as inspiration for movement. As well, contact improvisation will be brought into the mix. This technique explores myriads of ways to move with a partner that focuses on support and trust.

Come! Move, dance, enjoy!

This is a free, all-inclusive all-ages, all-genders session. The fun starts at 1pm and goes until 4pm (or everyone is exhausted!). Ovation! is located at 556 Edward Ave, unit 60, in Richmond Hill (Yonge/Elgin Mills). To RSVP, please email motuso@rogers.com.
